StatGen celebrates CBB PhD graduate, Chaitanya Acharya

On May 14, 2017, Chaitanya Acharya graduated with a PhD from the Computational Biology and Bioinformatics program.  Dr. Acharya’s thesis, Efficient analysis of complex, multimodal genomic data, “aims to better understand complex diseases using statistically disciplined approaches…by developing new approaches to efficiently model multi-modal data from consortium projects like the Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) project.”  Members of StatGen supported his doctoral research – his advisor was Andrew Allen, PhD and committee members included Kouros Owzar, PhD, Sayan Mukherjee, PhD (Chair) and Sandeep Dave, MD.  To read Dr. Acharya’s dissertation, visit the Duke Library website.
